Carol Nash Bristol Classic Bike Show 2020
Another good weekend, the weather was not too bad - just rain overnight on Saturday so
hopefully the outside traders were able to get business.
The show did not appear to be as well supported by traders this year -
lots of gaps where there used to be stalls.
Despite our very cramped Club Stand we had plenty of visitors taking an interest in both our
motorcycles and the club itself.
Sadly there appears to be some disparity over the amount of space allocated per club.
My photographs do show some very sparsely populated Club Stands,
whereas ours was most definitely "full up"!
Something that made us smile was the South Wales Sunbeam Owners Club Stand -
beautifully set up but not a Sunbeam in sight!
It was great to have a chat with Bill Douglas - easily recognised by the Tam O Shanter hat!
A very interesting and friendly Gentleman.
Congratulations to Wells Classic Club on their "Best Club Stand" award - totally deserved -
their display was, as always, brilliant.
Well done to a fellow Club member - Richard Chidgey for his "Francis Barnett 1956 Cruiser 75" award.
The bike won second best of the private entries.
Good to catch up with friends and enjoy a weekend at the show.
The following video shows our very own Colin Napper being interviewed.

Another great weekend had by all - the weather was stunning - no cold feet, hands or noses this year.
Our Club Stand was smaller than we would have liked, however,
we had some interesting bikes on show and they received a lot of attention from the passers by.
Well done to Andy Webb, whose Ducati Darmah was awarded the 3rd best Continental bike in show.
Well done, also to Wells Club for getting a first for their club stand - there was so much attention to detail and a huge amount of work in building and then dismantling the structure.
All in all, yet another great weekend.
Thank you to all who made it possible.

Another great weekend had by all - the weather was, on the whole, kind to us.
We got the bikes in and out in the dry and only had rain on Saturday morning.
Our Club Stand was smaller than we would have liked, however, the 13 bikes we displayed did look good
and we had lots of positive feedback from passers by!
Well done to Wells Club for getting a first for their club stand - it did look great especially the Indian taking centre stage.
An award well deserved.
The standard of bikes was amazing and I would not have wanted to be a judge - a great mix of marques ranging from the very shiny to the unrestored - very interesting "wanderings" around the show.
As usual a few of us stayed in our vans for the two nights and we do enjoy ourselves - this year was a first for Rob's van -
it's inaugural trip - thank you to Rob for the hospitality.
Thank you to all those who brought bikes along for our Club Stand and to all the behind the scenes work.
Also to members who "man" the stand throughout the weekend.
Of course, my report would be incomplete without a "food" report. Lardy cake, warm Manchips, bread pudding and lots of biscuits meant we were unlikely to go hungry!

THE BRISTOL CLASSIC BIKE SHOW
2017
Another good weekend, thanks to Club members bringing their bikes, the stands etc and of course tea, coffee and much cake!
Thankfully, the weather was very kind to us on Saturday (after a very wet Friday) and not too bad on Sunday. The show was as busy as ever with a large number of visitors to our stand.
Those of us who stayed over in our vans also had very enjoyable evenings - chatter and alcohol - what more could anyone need!
Congratulations to our friends from the Wells Club who won the BEST STAND award
Well deserved.

Despite a very wet Saturday we had a great time at the 36th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Show.
Classic Bike Guide showed an interest in Jo & Andy's Aermacchi and the April edition of the magazine includes this article.

THE BRISTOL CLASSIC BIKE SHOW
2015
2015
Club members had a great weekend at the Bristol Show on 7th & 8th February 2015. It started with a slight hiccup as Roger broke down on his way to the showground on Friday afternoon. All was well in the end and he made it to the ground in plenty of time.
Rob had already set up his “workshop” corner and as the bikes arrived the area started to look rather good. No theme this year - simply an array of Club Member’s cherished machines.
Fortunately, Saturday was not quite so cold and we had so many visitors to our stand the time passed all too quickly. On Sunday morning we arrived at our stand to be greeted to a very red rosette on the Douglas Dragonfly. We were all quite taken aback as there are so many beautiful motorcycles on show you never expect to get yours picked out by the judges. Our Club stand was exhibiting the motorcycle that the judges deemed to be the best Post War bike.
The good fortune did not stop there, Bill Douglas just happened to come along to our stand. His Great Grandfather started the Douglas Foundry and his Grandfather took the company into Motorcycle production. He posed for a photograph with our Douglas and signed a poster for us – he was wearing the “Tam O’Shanter” that is illustrated on the Douglas side panel decal.

The show was very well supported by trade stands and visitors alike – plenty of shopping opportunities for those vital provisions such as gaffa tape and cable ties. Those of us who stayed over in our vans had the honour of good company in the evenings and on Sunday Jacki brought us her Birthday cake to share.
We most definitely had all the ingredients for a very enjoyable weekend – thanks to all Club Members for making it happen and to all those who visited the Club Stand for a natter.
Thankfully we all arrived home without incident, apart from one of our members who will for these purposes be known as "Nice but Dim". He set off on his trusty stead but before long the sun set and darkness fell. He felt that his lights were not as good as they should be and so pulled over to investigate. A serious technical problem was unearthed - his entry number was still stuck over his headlight! A long complex job ensued but finally the offending piece of paper was removed without damage to the light - his journey continued with light and he too (eventually) arrived home safe and sound.
