DOUG LINTON
17th December 1947 to 1st August 2018
Douglas Linton passed away at his home on 1st August 2018, aged 70 years, dearly loved husband of Mary and father of James.
Doug was an Honorary Life Member of our Club, having originally founded and been the first Chairman of the (then)
Taunton & District British & Classic Motorcycle Club.
He started it by putting an invitation in the Somerset County Gazette, and their first meeting was at the Four Alls Pub, on the junction of Corporation Street and The Crescent (now an Indian Restaurant).
The first Exmoor Run, then called the Exmoor Mystery Tour, was on Sunday 19th September, 1993,
from the Market Car Park (Priory Bridge Road). Entry cost £3 (£4 on the day).
It was the start of a Club which has been the focus of so much camaraderie and friendship, bike-knowledge exchange, and the sheer pleasure of riding, all thanks to Doug.
"ONE LAST RIDE "
This was the inscription the sixteen bikes who followed the hearse could read on the back of Doug's coffin.
Our thoughts are with Mary, James and the family at this sad time.
Doug will be missed.
